Woodcarving from Bungamati, Nepal. Tara is one of the most important figures in Buddhism. She is a representation of the female aspect of Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. This statue was part of the exhibition in the Patan Museum: "The Revival of Newari Woodcarving, 2024".

Garuda, woodcarving from Bungmati, Nepal. This statue is a copy of the large statue in front of the famous Changu Narayan Temple of the Kathmandu Valley, considered as one of the finest Garuda's statue in Nepal. Half bird and half man, Garuda is the vehicle of the god Vishnu and his devotee. This statue was part of the exhibition in the Patan Museum: "The Revival of Newari Woodcarving, 2024".

Ratnasambhava (which in Sanskrit means 'born from the Jewel') represents the qualities of compassionate generosity, beauty and creativity, and is used in meditation to annihilate greed and pride. This statue was part of the exhibition in Patan Museum: "The Revival of Newari Woodcarving 2024".
RATNASAMBHAVA
Woodcarving from Bungmati, Nepal. The "wheel of life" or “bhavachakra” (from the Sanskrit “bhava” for existence and “chakra” for wheel) is a figurative representation of the samsara (endless circle of birth, death and rebirth). This statue was part of the exhibition in Patan Museum: "The Revival of Newari Woodcarving, 2024."
