This bronze statue represents Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of transcendent wisdom in Mahayana Buddhism, revered as the embodiment of enlightened knowledge.

He is depicted seated in a serene posture, holding aloft the flaming sword of wisdom, which cuts through ignorance and illusion. His left hand is held in a teaching gesture, symbolizing the transmission of insight and understanding.

According to tradition, Manjushri is closely associated with the origins of the Kathmandu Valley, where he is said to have drained the primordial lake to make the valley habitable. This foundational act is intimately linked to the sacred site of Swayambhunath, one of the most revered Buddhist stupas in Nepal.
