Tara, whose name in Sanskrit means “star”, is one of the most revered female figures in Buddhism.
She embodies the feminine aspect of Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, and, according to legend, was born from his own tears. In Buddhist practice, Tara is invoked as a meditation deity to cultivate compassion, kindness, and unconditional love.

Among her many manifestations, White Tara (Sitatārā) is associated with longevity, serenity, and healing energy.
Recognizable by her seven eyes — one on her forehead, palms, and soles — she perceives the suffering of all beings and offers her protection.
Her hands perform the mudrās of generosity and protection, radiating calm and reassurance.
