This statue depicts Śākyamuni Buddha seated in the Bhūmisparśa mudrā — the earth-touching gesture, recalling the moment of Enlightenment under the Bodhi tree.
With his right hand extended to touch the ground, the Buddha calls the earth to witness his victory over Māra, symbolizing steadfast determination and spiritual awakening.
From the elongated earlobes rise flame-like ornaments, a subtle motif symbolizing the radiant energy of enlightenment — a distinctive feature reminiscent of one renowned seated Buddha preserved at the Patan Museum.
His tranquil features and balanced posture convey inner calm and luminous presence.
The absence of a lotus throne enhances the meditative purity and the graceful simplicity of the form.
