PATAN MUSEUM EXHIBITION
Length: 25 cm / Width: 15 cm / Depth: 13 cm for each of the five statues.
Those statues were part of the exhibition in the Patan Museum: "The Revival of Newari Woodcarving, 2024".
The "Pancha" Buddhas represent the "Five" celestial Buddhas: Ratnasambhava, Akshobya, Vairochana, Amitabha and Amogasiddhi. Each of them are spiritual guides, symbolizing five qualities of the perfection of the Buddha Shakyamuni.
Respectively, each of these Five Buddhas are associated to a specific cardinal direction (South, East, Center, West, North), element (earth, water, ether, fire and air ) and color (yellow, blue, white, red, green).
Vairochana is at the center surrounded from left to right by Ratnasambhava, Akshobya, Amitabha and Amogasiddhi.
