PATAN MUSEUM EXHIBITION

Height: 46 cm / Width: 21 cm / Depth: 11 cm

This statue, of great refinement and craftsmanship, was part of the exhibition at the Patan Museum: “The Revival of Newar Woodcarving,” 2024.

Padmapani (“The Lotus-Bearer”) stands with one hand lowered in the boon-granting gesture, while holding the stem of a lotus in the other — a symbol of purity.

He is crowned and finely adorned, depicted as a saviour prince.

Padmapani is an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion.
