PATAN MUSEUM EXHIBITION

This statue, of great refinement and craftsmanship, was part of the exhibition at the Patan Museum: “The Revival of Newar Woodcarving,” 2024.
Padmapani (“The Lotus-Bearer”) stands with one hand lowered in the boon-granting gesture, while holding the stem of a lotus in the other — a symbol of purity.
He is crowned and finely adorned, depicted as a saviour prince.
Padmapani is an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion.
