This finely cast gilt copper alloy sculpture, gilded with 24-karat gold, represents Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, one of the principal figures of Mahayana Buddhism.
Seated in vajra posture, the Buddha holds an alms bowl in his lap in dhyana mudra, the gesture of meditation, symbolizing inner concentration and spiritual realization. This iconography is characteristic of Amitabha, associated with the Western Pure Land (Sukhavati), a realm of bliss accessible through devotion and contemplation.
The figure is rendered with refined modeling, featuring a serene expression, softly defined facial features, and harmonious proportions. The monastic robe is elegantly draped over the shoulder, following classical Himalayan representations.
