PATAN MUSEUM EXHIBITION

This statue was part of the exhibition in the Patan Museum: "The Revival of Newari Woodcarving, 2024".
Padmapani (“The Lotus-Bearer”) stands with his lowered hand in the boon-granting gesture, while holding a lotus’ stem in the other hand, which symbolizes purity. Padmapani is crowned and finely dressed as a saviour prince. On his left shoulder is the skin of a wild dear, which represents compassion. Padmapani is an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, the Boddhisattva of Compassion.
